Service Interruption due to flooding on the Roodhouse Subdivision

May 30, 2019

Excessive rains have caused the Mississippi River to rise causing flooding on the Roodhouse Subdivision near Louisiana, MO. This has resulted in a service interruption.

In anticipation of this, KCS teams had been working to raise the tracks and perform other activities in an effort to continue without interruption for as long as possible as well as return to service as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, as of this morning the water has exceeded the elevated tracks making the track impassable at this location.

It is unknown at this time how long this area will be out of service. The river flow predictions indicate the Mississippi River could remain above flood level through the weekend and possibly until mid next week.

Crews are monitoring the conditions so that repairs can be made and service can resume as soon as possible. Once the line has reopened, we will send out an update announcing this. No news means the line is still closed to traffic.

Customers shipping in this area should expect delays until service can resume to normal speeds.
