SOUTHERN BELLE
|
KCS has two, beautifully-restored Southern Belle passenger trains - one for the
U.S. and one for Mexico - used for business meetings, public affairs and charitable
events.
From 1940 until 1969, three Southern Belle business trains provided luxury passenger
service between Kansas City and the Gulf Coast region.
In 1995, KCS debuted a newly-restored Southern Belle train, which included some
of the cars from one of the original Southern Belle trains. In 2006, more equipment
was purchased from the St. Louis Car Company and put into Southern Belle service.
In 2010, KCS restored three rail cars for Southern Belle service exclusively in
Mexico. These cars are pulled by KCS de Mexico freight locomotives specially painted
to commemorate the bicentennial of Mexico's independence and the centennial of the
Mexican Revolution.
