TREN NAVIDEÑO

Tren Navidad

In 2010, KCS de Mexico ran its first Tren Navideño, in an effort to make the holidays a little brighter for families with limited resources along the rail network, and to demonstrate the company’s commitment to being a positive corporate citizen.

In its first year, KCS de Mexico partnered with the Cinepolis Foundation, Nextel Mexico and the Morelia Monarcas soccer team for six free public showings of the children’s holiday movie, “Navidad S.A.” The movie celebrates the importance of the Christmas spirit. The movie was shown on a large outdoor screen near the train. Free popcorn, beverages and scarves were provided to those in attendance. Aside from their logistical efforts, employees of KCS Mexico also donated personal means to sponsor this project .

The Tren Navideño was comprised of a caboose and boxcar decorated with holiday images; KCS de Mexico’s caboose painted to commemorate the Mexican Revolution and a locomotive painted to commemorate the Bicentennial of Mexico’s Independence. All of the equipment used to show the movie was transported on the train.

A total of 3900 visitors in six communities attended these free public events, which were held in San Luis Potosi, San Miguel de Allende, Atlacomulco, Patzcuaro and Lazaro Cardenas in December 2010 and Saltillo in January 2011.
