Recognition
KCSR has been consistently recognized for its employee safety record by the E.H. Harriman Memorial Awards Institute with a Gold Award in 2001, 2002, 2006 and 2007, Bronze Award in 2003 and 2004 and a Silver Award in 2005.

Programs
Identified as local safety committees in the U.S. and safety commissions in México, these cross-functional groups of employees are dedicated to safety and work actively to ensure a safe work place.  Employees in these groups meet regularly to identify and monitor safety issues specific to their areas, and develop and execute action items for resolving any safety issues, including escalation when necessary. 

On both sides of the border, employees are provided with most personal protective equipment as necessary for their specific job function.  In the U.S., employees are able to purchase approved prescription safety eyewear and safety boots direct from the vendor.  The prescription safety eyewear program is available online at http://www.ussafety.com/kcsr/.  Employees can order safety boots by completing a form provided by their supervisor and faxing it into the vendor.
