New Safety Requirements for Hauling Equipment in KCS' U.S. and Mexico Intermodal Facilities
7/2/2012

The safety of KCS' employees, customers, their freight and the communities we serve is a priority, and each person involved in the movement of this freight is responsible for helping to create a safe environment. As such, we wish to inform you of the following safety procedure.

Starting July 9, all hauling equipment, chassis and flatbeds, allowed into KCS intermodal facilities in the U.S. or Mexico for the transportation of 20, 40, 45, 48 or 53 feet containers must meet the following requirements:

• Every chassis and/or flatbed must be equipped with proper twist lock securing devices. Straps and chains are not acceptable securing devices.
• Every chassis and/or flatbed must be in good physical and mechanical condition to transport containers.
• Any unit that handles double trucks, dolly or bogey, must operate their brake systems and be in good mechanical condition.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to improve the safety of our intermodal facility operations.
