KCS Holiday Express, marriage proposals and cheerful train symbols

December 04, 2015

Now seven days in to its 2015 run, the KCS Holiday Express has seen 24,293 visitors through the train in DeRidder, La., Beaumont, Kendleton, El Campo, Victoria, Ganado and Wharton, Texas.  Tonight, the train will be in Shreveport, La.  The complete schedule and more information can be found on the KCS website.  Employees and friends are invited to follow KCS Holiday Express on Facebook, Instagram or by downloading the app.

In DeRidder, a couple got engaged at the KCS Holiday Express.  The first known marriage proposal at the train was last year.  This year, there have already been two proposals – both a “yes”.

KCSR Operations folks may have noticed some unusual train symbols with this year’s run.  Train symbols are normally comprised of a letter indicating the type of train and letters indicating the origin and destination, followed by the date.  The Service Design team is distinguishing this year’s Holiday Express with B-SANTA from Shreveport to Victoria to Shreveport, B-CLAUS from Shreveport to Kansas City, B-SLEIGH from Kansas City to East St. Louis to Kansas City and B-MERRY from Kansas City to Shreveport.
