KCSR, Arkansas emergency responders connect for GCCI course

November 06, 2015

On November 2, KCSR hosted a Grade Crossing Collision Investigation (GCCI) course in Ashdown, Ark.  Sixteen police officers from Ashdown and Foreman participated in the eight-hour class.  KCSR senior trainmaster Landon Frye, signal supervisor Don Brinlee, manager mechanical maintenance Marty Robinett and district special agent Cort LaBlank facilitated the training.

“GCCI courses are a great vehicle to reach first responders along the KCSR system and provide information and instruction for how to safely and effectively work a grade crossing incident,” said LaBlank.

GCCI course curriculum was developed for the North American law enforcement community with the cooperation of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Sheriffs Association and Operation Lifesaver, Inc.  Instruction covers various aspects of railroad safety and the elements of a crossing collision.
