On February 2, KCSR and the Nederland Police Department conducted an Officer on a Train event yielding seven citations – six for failing to stop for the approaching train. Three warnings were issued to motorists for stopping on the tracks and disregarding gates and signals.
In an Officer on a Train event, KCSR invites law enforcement officers into a locomotive cab for a real-time perspective of motorist and pedestrian activity as a train moves through the community. Meanwhile, other law enforcement officers are stationed along the railroad right of way, watching for crossing and trespasser violations and issuing citations.
Special thanks to the Nederland Police Department for their participation in the event.
