This week, KCSM completed the fifth annual run of Tren Navideño with approximately 11,750 visitors turning out to see the train, watch the Minions movie and enjoy popcorn, juice, sweets, bread and toys. This year, the train visited 10 communities, including Monterrey, Nuevo León, Saltillo, Coahuila, San Luis Potosí, SLP, Cárdenas, SLP, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Qro., Celaya, Guanajuato, Morelia, Michoacán, Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán and Toluca, Estado de México. Events are free, open to the public and aim to reach people living with limited resources in vulnerable areas.
This festive holiday train is comprised of a caboose and a boxcar decorated with holiday images, the Alto Total (Operation Lifesaver) caboose, the commemorative Mexican Revolution caboose and an environmentally-friendly locomotive. At each stop, visitors can walk through holiday displays inside the rail cars, see a movie and enjoy refreshments.
Special thanks to everyone who made contributions or volunteered to make the events successful!
