Dear Valued KCS Intermodal Customer,
As we approach the end of 2019 and the business planning for 2020, we wanted to share the plans for the tariff renewals for the 53’ containers so that these could be considered in your 2020 negotiations.
As communicated on May 10, 2019, the loss of the Mexican fuel excise tax (IEPS) early in 2019 will result in higher than normal KCSM origin rate tariff increases. The corresponding adjustment to these public tariffs to accommodate the change to the IEPS credit was deferred until the next renewal date of January 1, 2020. Please take note that these types of increases should be anticipated on business that is moving under special quotes, as they come due for renewal.
Therefore, please note the following tariffs will be increasing effective January 1, 2020:
The US based public tariffs will be extended at their current rate levels effective on January 1, 2020.
The pending and current public tariff rates are available via our customer portal, MyKCS.
Please contact your KCS Sales Representative or Marketing Representative with any questions.
Thank you for being a loyal Kansas City Southern customer.
