Caltzontzin District Reopens as protests end

February 11, 2019

On January 14, 2019, the main line on the Caltzontzin District became blocked due to civil protests occurring on or near the Kansas City Southern de Mexico’s (KCSM) track impeding our ability to continue without risk to the protestors. This mainline interruption impacted service to and from the Port of Lazaro Cardenas resulting in KCSM issuing a force majeure and document limitations (embargos).

We are pleased to report that today, February 11, 2019, the mainline has been cleared of protestors and traffic has resumed. As soon as our network is fluid and further protests have been averted, we will lift the Force Majeure and document limitations (embargos) in place.

We remain cautiously optimistic that the mainlines will remain clear but, in matters of civil protests, risk remains as they are not in our control. We will be monitoring the situation closely and will communicate should the status change.

Please do not hesitate to contact our KCSR Customer Solutions or KCSM Customer Solutions team with any questions you may have.

As always, we thank you for your understanding and patience.
