Earthquake Today in Southern Mexico

June 23, 2020

At approximately 10:30am CDT, a 7.4 earthquake struck southern Mexico with an epicenter approximately 11 kilometers (~6 miles) southwest of Santa María Zapotitlán in Oaxaca state. This is about 570 km (350 miles) east of Veracruz or 720 km (447 miles) south of Mexico City.

Our National Operations Center earthquake protocol requires an inspection of our network within 100 miles of the epicenter therefore, at this point, we have been informed that KCSM network is not impacted by the recent earthquake.

We will continue to monitor the network and for possible aftershocks and will advise if there are any changes to our service. The safety of our crew, our customers’ cargo and the communities in which we travel remain top priority.
