In the spirit of partnership and collaboration, we wanted to point out an issue we’ve been experiencing and ask for your help. In recent weeks, KCS has witnessed a rather alarming increase in damage to our covered hopper fleet stemming from improper unloading techniques. We invite you to please revisit the proper techniques with your employees at your earliest convenience.
Shipping safely requires attention to detail throughout the process from loading to unloading. We recognize it is a busy time – especially during harvest season – but there is an increased risk of employee injuries, as well as, potential delays and lack of car availability when damages occur due to not following proper loading or unloading procedures.
Should damage occur during the loading or unloading process, please contact KCS Customer Solutions so that our mechanical department can make the necessary repairs as soon as possible.
