Service Interruption due to protests - August 2019

August 08, 2019

Currently, the mainline of Kansas City Southern de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) in the Caltzontzin and Acambaro Districts, is being blocked by civil protests, completely unrelated to our company, impeding our ability to continue without risk to the protestors. News reports have indicated that Farmers affiliated with the Authentic Front of the Field (FAC) had communicated plans to hold protests intending to block highways and seaports throughout Mexico.

This mainline interruption has impacted service to and from both the Port of Lazaro Cardenas and Toluca and has the potential to impact traffic throughout the KCSM network.

There is no resolution date to this blockage which is out of KCSM’s control and depends on the intervention and negotiations carried out by the relevant authorities. For those impacted, there currently are no detours.

We appreciate your patience and understanding on this service interruption and the resulting delays.

The KCSM Customer Solutions team will keep you informed as our operations resume. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us and we will be glad to assist you.
