Weather Alert Tropical Storm Cristobal in the Gulf of Mexico

June 05, 2020

As we communicated on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, there is a tropical storm in the Gulf of Mexico posing potential risks to the KCSR network.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Cristobal is currently in the Gulf with risk of a storm surge, heavy rainfall and wind impacts beginning over the weekend along portions of the U.S. Gulf Coast from Texas to the Florida Panhandle. The current indicators are that the storm will make landfall around New Orleans in the morning of Monday, June 8th, 2020.

In anticipation of the storm, the Army Corps of Engineers has recommended that the New Orleans Public Belt (NOPB) be closed effective 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2020. This will impact rail traffic beginning Saturday June 6th through Monday, June 8th (estimated).

As always, the safety of our employees, customers’ shipments and the communities we serve remains the priority.    We are monitoring the storm closely and once it is safe to resume traffic in the area, we will do so.

We are committed to serving you in the most efficient manner possible and will remain proactive in addressing potential storm threats.
