We would like to inform you of an approaching tropical storm posing potential risks to the KCSR network.
According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Sally (expected to be upgraded to a hurricane) is in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to have some impact to Louisiana and Mississippi on Tuesday, September 15th, bringing rain, potential flooding and damaging winds.
The Flood Protection Agency (FPA) has recommended that the railroad flood gates begin closing today, Sunday, September 13th with all closed by noon on Monday, September 14th. The last interchange with the NOPB will be this evening and will not resume until the storm has passed and flood gates have reopened.
As always, the safety of our employees, customers’ shipments and the communities we serve remains the priority. We are closely monitoring the storm and will notify if there are any changes to our network or service.
