Since its launch in 2010, Tren Navideño has visited over 22 communities on the KCSM rail network with more than 70,000 visitors. Tren Navideño is comprised of two boxcars decorated with ornaments, one flat car with a Nativity scene, an Alto Total (Operation Lifesaver) caboose, a caboose that commemorates the Mexican Revolution and an environmentally-friendly locomotive. The entire train is dressed in lights.
At each stop, visitors can tour the photo displays inside the gallery boxcar. They can also watch a children’s movie on an open-air screen and receive free refreshments and gifts. All events are for children from low-income communities and intended to make the holiday season brighter in underprivileged communities. The event is not open to the general public.
Campaign to raise funds for Tren Navideño
Gifts for children are made possible by contributions from KCSM employees and sponsors, and the events are conducted largely by volunteers. If you would like to make a donation, please contact ccorporativa@kcsms.com.mx.
