KCS COVID-19 Business Update April 7, 2020

April 07, 2020

KCS continues to operate, leveraging our business continuity plan as shared in our last update on March 25th.

A significant portion of the KCS network is now “shelter in place” or on other restrictions due to COVID-19. There are a few areas on the network designated as “hot spots” that we are monitoring closely.

There has been no change to the status of the rail industry. We are still considered to be essential and as such, shipments, including cross-border shipments, continue without interruption. KCS business continuity plans are working well.

Our customers continue to shift their production resulting in changes to their shipping needs and we continue to adjust trip plans and transportation schedules accordingly to align with these changing demands.

The Mexican government has initiated new ‘shelter at home’ policies related to certain individuals who may be considered high risk of contracting COVID-19. In Mexico, we have been aggressive in adjusting operations to allow for continued and uninterrupted service. Crew availability in the US remains strong.

With a continued focus on the health of our in-facility employees, we have instituted additional measures in key operational areas and buildings including temperature checks for all shifts.

KCS remains fully engaged and committed to all our stakeholders as we continue to work through this pandemic, never losing sight of our vision to be the fastest-growing, best-performing, most customer-focused transportation provider in North America.

While the environment continues to change at record speeds, you have our commitment to keep you updated on any material changes to the status of our operations.
