Carta Porte - update #15 – Introducing Chassis License Plate Look Up Tool

We are pleased to announce a new tool allowing users with the chassis initial and number to retrieve the license plate number for KCS' chassis in use on your shipment. Per Carta Porte, the license plate number is required to be included on the shipping documents for each chassis associated with the shipment. Specifically, this new tool is focused on supporting the drayage operation of shipments that uses KCS' pool of 53' chassis located at our three KCSM owned intermodal facilities in Mexico: Salinas Victoria, NL, Interpuerto, SL, and Puerta Mexico, EM.

As a reminder, the Carta Porte requirements apply to all shipping companies (cargo airlines, trucks, maritime, railroads, etc.). This applies to cross-border, international, and Mexican domestic shipments. This supersedes any provision to the contrary that may exist in any rule, tariff, rate, or contract previously published or entered by KCSM.
