KCSM Service update - 2022

Dear Customers,

Recently, KCSM is experiencing service delays within the Mexico network due to resource constraints and unexpected increased volume in already congested areas. Individually, these incidents are not significant in their own right, however, when combined, they have resulted in service that is below your expectations and below our service delivery commitments to you.  

To address this, we have taken actions to ensure resources are available to expedite the recovery. Specifically, we are heavily focused on resource optimization in central and southern Mexico. Here are a few of the focused efforts specific to course correcting the service issues:  

  • We are aligning with the Union and our KCSM Labor Relations to increase availability of resources including using supplemental local crews to serve the vital SLP area.  These discussions are ongoing.  
  • New crews are being on-boarded with plans to deploy to key areas.  
  • We have increased the availability of locomotive power within this corridor.  
  • We are closely working with Ferrovalle to coordinate efforts to reduce congestion in the area.
  • We have deployed management personnel in the affected areas.  

We are aggressively working to resolve the situation and expect improvement in the coming weeks. You have our commitment this will remain a top priority until normal operations resume and service returns to expected levels.
